After getting a chance to chat with the festival founders about what it is that makes this independently run festival so unique, we’re taking a chance to highlight a handful of our favorite artists from the lineup. Pretty Lights Live
Nearing the point of being a religion in the electronic funk space, Pretty Lights has been pioneering a brand of electronic, funk and hip-hop that has spawned an entire scene for well over a decade. After pushing the boundaries of what could be done by a single performer in his live performances, Derek Vincent Smith started playing shows with a live band, bringing the full experience up a notch with live drums, horns, bass and more. He’ll be headlining the Amazonia stage this weekend and you surely can’t miss it when Pretty Lights and the band jam the funk out this Saturday at 1am!
An undisputed up and coming force in bass music, G Jones commands your full attention when he steps up to the decks. His special blend of west coast hip-hop, space bass, glitches, wubs, samples and all-around madness turns crowds to an amoeba of energy that are in for a full blown experience until he releases their attention. After collaborating with titans like Bassnectar and Eprom, you’ll want make sure you’re at the Amazonia stage when he’s up to the decks Sunday at 6:15pm!
Claude VonStroke & Dirtybird Players
When you need a second to move those feet and forget the world, take a stop by the Dirtybird Players spot at the Disco Inferno Stage to see the legendary Claude VonStroke take the decks Sunday at 11pm. Voted the world’s #1 DJ over powerhouses like Bassnectar, The Chainsmokers and Kaskade in 2016, this American gem came up in Detroit’s heralded techno scene and his the head honcho of Dirtybird Records, a major US techno label based in San Fransisco. He’s also bringing his friends like Shiba San, Will Clarke and more!
These cats bring funky family wherever they go and there is never a room these two play that isn’t an absolute jam. Part of the All Good Records family with GRiZ, The Floozies vocoder drenched wonky version of electronic funk music is as glitchy and fun as it is bassey and will be sure to get even the most committed wallflower to their feet. Stop by the Amazonia Stage to catch them live Saturday at 11:15pm!
Ying Yang Twins
Imagine Music Festival pays tribute to the city it calls home by bringing the duo that’ll make you say YEAAAAH! like it’s 2004 all over again. Sometimes there’s something better than getting to see the latest and greatest artists on a giant stage… seeing the CLASSICS like ATL legends Ying Yang Twins! If you remember all the way back to when turning up wasn’t a marketing slogan and matching your Phat Farms to your outfit was the thing to do, come out to the Oceania Stage and turn up with the twins Saturday at 6pm with Pyramid Scheme!
