After the release of his album 4:44 on his Tidal streaming platform, Jay Z is bringing the live show on tour and making a stop at ACL. You can expect to see him display his latest records like Bam which he just played live on SNL where he sported a football jersey with Colin K on the back in support of Colin Kaepernick. He’s always liable to bring guests out or maybe even break out some classics like the Linkin Park collaboration Numb/Encore he did at BBC’s Live Lounge in memory of Chester Bennington.
Their Humanz album was almost universally acclaimed with some of the most forward thinking collaborations you might find, including tracks with Vic Mensa, Anthony Hamilton, De La Soul, DRAM, Popcaan and so many more. They’re live performances are super high energy and the visuals are a huge part with the band’s animated counterparts performing behind them.
The 6-string bass boss known as Thundercat brings the funk as hard as he can wherever he goes, including Zilker Park for the next 2 weekends. Having been featured on the likes of Kendrick Lamar’s album, he is a force in the hip-hop, funk and jazz scenes and his live performance will leave you with no option but to move your feet.
Chance The Rapper
It probably goes without saying but everyone will probably want to come out for Chance the Rapper’s performances on Saturday. His Coloring Book album has pushed to change the landscape of the music industry while all he’s done since the release is play show after show while also trying to help save Chicago’s schools and music programs. And if you go see him he just might go ahead and play some unreleased music he just made like he did when he went on The Late Show with Steven Colbert this week.
Big Wild’s style is as crazy as his hair and his live performances are really a sight to behold. Having released his latest Invincible EP on ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective imprint, he toured the country in support of it until ending up in Austin for ACL. His track Invincible has been remixed by artists like Manila Killa
