The Festival Fistful: Goldrush Music Festival

Goldrush Music Festival is this weekend and we can’t wait to see the weird getting at Rawhide Western Town in full force.  You can even win once-in-a-lifetime experiences like a backstage BBQ with Claude VonStroke, a photoshoot with Marshmello when you donate to Surreal, a fundraising platform that works with festivals and musicians to offer experiences benefitting charities like Childhelp, a national nonprofit organization which exists to meet the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of abused, neglected and at-risk children.  After going Bottoms Up on the Goldrush lineup, get a healthy handful of jams in our Festival Fistful for Goldrush Music Festival.  Our top 5 picks for this weekend in Phoenix!

RL Grime

There’s no question that the king of big time festival sets is RL Grime.  The NOVA tour has been ongoing for the last couple weeks and he’s bringing his latest releases, some RL Grime classics and some brand new heat with him to Rawhide for Goldrush Music Festival.  After collaborating with Miguel earlier this year for Stay for It and more recently releasing his original track Era, RL Grime is going to be making massive moves at the Golden Gorge..

Dillon Francis

The man has been a social media megastar and he’s looking to take the next step into pop super producer with his latest release Hello There with Yung Pinch.  Dillon Francis has been mastering festival mayhem for the better part of a decade and his stop through Goldrush Music Festival will be a madhouse leaving you saying IDGAFOS!

A-Trak | Baauer

The perennial master of the turntables and Fools Gold Records head honcho A-Trak went all in with the bass blasting Baauer on a pair of tracks that are surefire dancefloor destoryers.  Fern Gully and Dumbo Drop are sure to be played as the pair embark on a stint of back to back DJ sets that will sure to see some of the hardest beats and technical mixing you can find..  Rawhide will be going all the way up with the duo at Goldrush Music Festival.

A journey into the darkest recesses of the dancefloor are found when seeing Malaa.  The artist is an enigma, wearing a skimask on stage, casually smoking cigarettes as he brings the floor to a fever pitch.  His sets have been a mainstay of massive events like Holy Ship and there’s no question that his set will be one you can’t miss at Goldrush Music Festival.

Hippie Sabotage

The Sacramento duo took the scene by storm after a 2014 endorsement from Ellie Goulding with a remix of Tove Lo that now has over 250 million streams.  These two will be sure to bring thundering 808s and chill vibes to the Golden Gorge alongside the likes of Marshmello, Lil Uzi Vert, Migos and more.

Bottoms Up: Goldrush Music Festival

While we often buy tickets to see our favorite musicians, festivals offer the perfect opportunity to broaden our music schemas and fall in love with new artists. Festivals feature both the biggest names in music (and on the lineup) and artists that are on the brink of greatness (and just a little bit further down the poster). Here are our picks for up-and-coming artists that you might have missed if we had not looked at the lineup from the bottom, up!

Walker & Royce

Walker & Royce are sure to get Goldrush moving with their infectious, deep house grooves.
The New Yorkers have really blown up since singing with Claude Vonstroke’s Dirtybird Records. Walker & Royce dropped their latest album, Self Help, earlier this year, and it has features from some of the coolest names in house music, including Dances with White Girls and Green Velvet.

Snow Tha Product

Known as Snow Tha Product, Claudia Feliciano is famous for her rapid fire style of rapping in both English and Spanish. She is known for creating a party-like atmosphere at her shows, and she is also known for not shying away from meaningful lyrics. Feliciano often raps about politics, immigration and emotions. Her role as an activist made her the perfect candidate to be featured on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton Mixtape on the song “Immigrants (We Get the Job Done).” Her impressive skills have been recognized by musicians like Tech N9ne and Immortal Technique, and her fanbase continues to grow.

Nicole Moudaber

Born in Nigeria and raised in Lebanon, Nicole Moudaber is a force within the music community. She is easily one of the biggest and the busiest tech-house artists right now. She is a producer, event promoter, record label founder and radio host. Moudaber has played some of the biggest festivals around the world, including hosting her own stage at Electric Daisy Carnival. She has also played intimate warehouse shows through MoodRaw.

Injury Reserve

Despite the music scene in Phoenix, Arizona being primarily indie music, Injury Reserve formed as an alternative rap group. Injury attributes the lack of rap scene in Arizona as being a source of inspiration since they did not have to live up to anyone’s expectations. The trio consists of two rappers and a producer who all hold an equal role in the group. The result is a weird-in-a-good-way sound that sets them apart from anything you have ever heard.

Habstrakt’s masterfully crafted bass house is sure to get the crowd dancing at Goldrush this year. The French DJ blends elements of dubstep and house in a way that is aggressive and unique. Habstrakt has caught the attention of many prominent DJs for his high-energy remixes, but 2017 might have been his biggest year yet. This year, he was featured on Skrillex’s house album, Howsla. In fact, he teamed up with the dubstep legend himself to produce “Chicken Soup,” one of the year’s most exciting electronic tracks.

Goldrush Festival Founder Talks Wild West Party

With the inaugural Goldrush Music Festival on the horizon, we were lucky enough to sit at the saloon and chat with festival founder Thomas Turner to talks growth, his most anticipated artist at this year’s festival and what the future holds for Relentless Beats as Phoenix’s biggest concert promoter.

NOTE: In case you missed it, we’re giving away 2 FREE GOLDRUSH PASSES and announcing the winner on 10/30 at 12pm CT!

How did Relentless Beats get started?
I had been influenced by European dance music culture and it was not yet a thing in the US. As I became an avid consumer & enthusiast- I wanted to share it with all of my friends, so i began to create parties for all of us to enjoy.

Why Phoenix?
Besides being born and raised in Phoenix, it’s a city filled with opportunity. What better place to build a scene, than here.

How has RB grown in the past few years?
Each year we have the opportunity to host more people than ever before. We continue to introduce new events, bring in more artists and make our marquee events better than the years before. I think we grow because often we are part of some of the most memorable nights of people’s lives and that’s pretty exciting.

What are some of the challenges you’ve faced with operating RB independently?
None of the operational issues we have faced thus far have been a result of us operating independently. In fact it’s the independence that has allowed me to go create a company that specializes in the entertainment & lifestyle that Relentless Beats is known for.

Where do you see the future of RB?
Some exciting things are currently in motion I cannot share, but what I can say is there is a lot more growth slated for the greater Phoenix area and we are happy to be participating.

What is one of your favorite experiences with running Relentless?
I love the energy and the love for electronic music, that we have in Arizona. It’s really amazing to see it flourish & excite so many people.

Who on the Goldrush lineup are you most excited about?
I’m a fan of undgeround house music, which is what got me into this business, so you will often find me at our RBDeep stage. However, I will bounce back and forth to catch as many as I can.

What inspired the gold mining theme?
If you have ever been to Rawhide then you know that its best feature is an amazing 1880’s western town. It’s an immersive wild west experience that you can only get in this setting.

Can you describe Goldrush in five words or less?
