Bottoms Up: Goldrush Music Festival

While we often buy tickets to see our favorite musicians, festivals offer the perfect opportunity to broaden our music schemas and fall in love with new artists. Festivals feature both the biggest names in music (and on the lineup) and artists that are on the brink of greatness (and just a little bit further down the poster). Here are our picks for up-and-coming artists that you might have missed if we had not looked at the lineup from the bottom, up!

Walker & Royce

Walker & Royce are sure to get Goldrush moving with their infectious, deep house grooves.
The New Yorkers have really blown up since singing with Claude Vonstroke’s Dirtybird Records. Walker & Royce dropped their latest album, Self Help, earlier this year, and it has features from some of the coolest names in house music, including Dances with White Girls and Green Velvet.

Snow Tha Product

Known as Snow Tha Product, Claudia Feliciano is famous for her rapid fire style of rapping in both English and Spanish. She is known for creating a party-like atmosphere at her shows, and she is also known for not shying away from meaningful lyrics. Feliciano often raps about politics, immigration and emotions. Her role as an activist made her the perfect candidate to be featured on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton Mixtape on the song “Immigrants (We Get the Job Done).” Her impressive skills have been recognized by musicians like Tech N9ne and Immortal Technique, and her fanbase continues to grow.

Nicole Moudaber

Born in Nigeria and raised in Lebanon, Nicole Moudaber is a force within the music community. She is easily one of the biggest and the busiest tech-house artists right now. She is a producer, event promoter, record label founder and radio host. Moudaber has played some of the biggest festivals around the world, including hosting her own stage at Electric Daisy Carnival. She has also played intimate warehouse shows through MoodRaw.

Injury Reserve

Despite the music scene in Phoenix, Arizona being primarily indie music, Injury Reserve formed as an alternative rap group. Injury attributes the lack of rap scene in Arizona as being a source of inspiration since they did not have to live up to anyone’s expectations. The trio consists of two rappers and a producer who all hold an equal role in the group. The result is a weird-in-a-good-way sound that sets them apart from anything you have ever heard.

Habstrakt’s masterfully crafted bass house is sure to get the crowd dancing at Goldrush this year. The French DJ blends elements of dubstep and house in a way that is aggressive and unique. Habstrakt has caught the attention of many prominent DJs for his high-energy remixes, but 2017 might have been his biggest year yet. This year, he was featured on Skrillex’s house album, Howsla. In fact, he teamed up with the dubstep legend himself to produce “Chicken Soup,” one of the year’s most exciting electronic tracks.
